Our Beavers explore the values of scouting, such as friendship, community and having fun. They participate in a balanced program that includes residential experiences and learning scouting skills, such as knot tying, fire lighting, camp cooking, pioneering and more. Our Beavers also enjoy various water activities to prepare them for the older sections. Many Beavers will advance to Cubs with their Chief Scout Bronze Award.
Our Cubs participate in at least two camps every year, where they enjoy a wide range of land and water based activities, such as kayaking, canoeing, climbing, archery and hiking. They also have the opportunity to join the Scouts in sailing and work towards their RYA staged awards. During their time in cubs, young people engage in activities that encourage problem-solving, teamwork and perseverance. Many Cubs will move onto Scouts having earned their Chief Scouts Silver Award
Our Scouts follow a program of activities that helps them earn various badges and awards, leading up to the Chief Scouts gold award, which is the highest achievement. We are the only Sea Scouts in the Heatons and the Stockport district. Our Young people can enjoy various water sports through our troop’s partnership with Debdale outdoor centre. There, they can advance their sailing skills, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and windsurfing. Our Scouts also engage in land-based activities. We camp at different places and use these chances to build on the skills learned in the previous sections and take them to the next level. We always put adventure and fun at the core of everything we do.
As Our Explorers move to become young adults, they begin taking on more responsibility. They are able to propose their own activities and events, with the support of a strong leader team. Many Explorers have already achieved their Chief Scout Gold Award and can now pursue further awards to help them gain life skills and enhanced life chances. These include the Chief Scout Diamond Award, the Chief Scout Platinum Award and King’s Scout Award which they can do in tandem with the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award to be continued when they move up to the Scout Network at 18 but has to be completed before their 25th birthday
